Vinyl siding is a durable, versatile, and resilient building material, but it does require some routine care and cleaning. But, is pressure washing the thing to do?
Because it is an exterior product, vinyl siding can accumulate a host of dirt, grime, and stains. Pollen, bird and insect droppings, spider webs and rust can all accumulate on the siding. In shady, moist areas mold and mildew can grow. If not taken care of the siding will become heavily stained, and dingy looking. Mold growing on the siding could present dangers to humans and pets alike. Some molds (although not all) can contain mycotoxins, which can cause serious illness. You wouldn’t leave mold growing inside your home, and it should not be left to grow on the outside either. The spores from the mold are easily picked up and transferred into the home on clothing and shoes.
Many home owners think of a pressure washer when they think of having the exterior of their home cleaned. But, did you know that cleaning your home’s exterior with a power washer can cause damage? Using high pressure can drive water under the siding around windows, in between the siding, and even dent the vinyl siding.
Rather than pressure washing your home’s exterior, we use a process that is called soft washing, or non-pressure cleaning. This method uses a low pressure delivery method to apply the cleaning agents followed by a low pressure, high volume rinse to gently rinse the siding. This cleaning technique will clean the dirtiest vinyl siding, stucco, dryvit, brick and more without using high pressure.
Our technique not only cleans, but it kills any algae that may be present rather than just rinsing it off with high pressure.
